"TRANSPARENT EYEBALL"
"The "Transparent Eyeball" illustration by Christopher Pearse Cranch was created between 1836 and 1838. Cranch and James Freeman Clarke began drawing caricatures to illustrate passages from Ralph Waldo Emerson's 1836 essay "Nature" in January 1839. The two used the caricatures as a form of amusement and to discuss Emerson's transcendentalist philosophies."
